Rooted in Love, Giving Back to Rwanda
Worlds Apart, Hearts Connected: Rwandan Friends Inspire Giving Back
Rwanda holds a special place in my heart. Back in 2015, I embarked on a missions trip with my church that took me to Rusera, a small village nestled on the eastern side of the country. My team and I were stationed at a church preschool, setting up learning stations and teaching English. It was a whirlwind of experiences, but one that left a lasting impact. It was there that I met Ines and Yvette, two incredible women who would become cherished friends.
Over the past nine years, we've cultivated a beautiful friendship through the magic of social media and WhatsApp. We share photos, videos, and stories, and even connect our children virtually. While their lives in Rwanda are simpler than ours here in the US, they also come with unique challenges. Finding work can be difficult, and putting food on the table and ensuring their kids receive an education is a constant source of stress.
Just recently, Yvette reached out, sharing the struggle of feeding their family of four. It broke my heart to hear about their basic needs not being met, especially when I was on the other side of the world, cleaning up blueberries my son had playfully scattered across the floor. The stark contrast made me realize how far a US dollar can go in Rwanda. Here, it might buy a few pints of blueberries, but there, it can contribute to feeding an entire village! $1,850 a month can provide food for 37 families.
This realization ignited a deeper passion in me. For every Acorn Oaks Wellness product you purchase, $1 will go directly to their community providing essential food and medicine. By choosing Acorn Oaks Wellness, you're not just making a conscious choice for your own well-being, but also contributing to a brighter future for families like Ines and Yvette's.
